Dodgers, Angels Fight for Hearts of Los Angeles

Share

So the Dodgers are trying to connect their heritage to present day with new billboard ads morphing the past with the present? Why not go a step further and look into the future?

I can see it now -- Ebbets Field blends into Dodger Stadium, which in turn blends into condominiums.

Would the city of Anaheim please get over the Angels’ name change already? It’s not like the “Anaheim Angels” have been a household name for generations.

It has been only since 1997 that “Anaheim” was even a part of the Angels’ name.

Anaheim should feel fortunate that two people (Gene Autry and Walt Disney) chose that city to see their dreams realized. Instead, they’re crying like babies, even with all the tax and lease revenue they will continue to make off the team. Because the last time I checked, the name change won’t affect that.

There’s some good news about the Dodgers: Duaner Sanchez is still on the roster. So if Dioner Navarro is brought up, we could have a Duaner-Dioner battery. If nothing else, that should cause Rick Monday to take early retirement.

A few comments regarding the Angels and their new owner. It would appear that Mr. Moreno bought the team with a hidden agenda. He lowers beer prices and makes other fan-friendly changes. Naturally, these are all received well.

Then he lowers the boom. Change the name to Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, which may be technically OK but clearly is not in the spirit of the agreement.

Oh, and by the way, it is an old stadium. Next he says other cities are contacting him about moving. Now he can move, and guess what? It’s not his fault.

Boy, Arte sure did his homework.
