Steve Susskind, 62; Actor, Announcer and Voice-Over Specialist

Steve Susskind, 62, an actor in shows such as “Friends,” “Frasier” and “According to Jim,” died Jan. 21 at a Mission Hills hospital of injuries caused when the limousine he was driving in Tujunga earlier in the day was struck by another vehicle.

Born in Springfield, Mass., and brought up in suburban New York, Susskind, at 15, joined his friend Bob Minsky to form the 1960s pop duo the Roommates. Their major hit was “Glory of Love.”

In 1980, Susskind moved to Los Angeles to become an announcer, voice-over specialist and actor. His voice was heard in the animated films “The Emperor’s New Groove” and “Monsters, Inc.” and in the 1984 television series “Challenge of the GoBots.”

Susskind appeared in such popular TV series as “Archie Bunker’s Place,” “The Jeffersons,” “Married ... With Children,” “Cheers,” “NewsRadio,” “Seinfeld” and “Scrubs.” His films included “Friday the 13th Part 3.”
