Cox Radio Inc., owner and operator of 79 U.S. stations, said it received a subpoena from New York state Atty. Gen. Eliot Spitzer as part of his investigation into the promotion of songs on radio.

The request for information was received Friday, Atlanta-based Cox Radio said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Spitzer is investigating the relationship between music companies and radio stations and the use of independent agents to promote songs, Warner Music Group and EMI Group said last year when they received subpoenas. Clear Channel Communications Inc. said Friday that it also received a subpoena.
