The British Medical Journal said it has sent documents to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration that it said appear to suggest a link between the antidepressant drug Prozac and suicidal behavior.

The journal said an anonymous source had provided “missing documents” relating to clinical trials of the drug, made by Indianapolis-based drug maker Eli Lilly & Co.

Lilly said it had always sought to publicly disclose data and was unaware of any allegations that documents were missing from its trials.

The journal said the documents included reviews and memos that appeared to show Eli Lilly executives were aware in the 1980s that the drug, whose generic name is fluoxetine, had “troubling side effects.”

Shares of Lilly fell 75 cents to $56.75 on the New York Stock Exchange.
