No. 18 Alabama Holds On

Alabama made quick work of New Orleans in its final tuneup for Southeastern Conference play, beating the Privateers, 68-57, Saturday night at Tuscaloosa, Ala.

After taking a 41-24 halftime lead, Alabama (11-2) was only six of 23 from the field in the second half. The Privateers (5-8) used an 11-2 run to cut it to 65-55 and held the Crimson Tide to one basket in the last 12 minutes.

OTHER GAMES

Ronald Ross scored 30 points to help Texas Tech beat San Francisco, 97-53, at Lubbock, Texas. The Red Raiders (7-3), who kept the Dons (8-4) below their average of 74 points, led by as many as 44 points.... Michael Harris had 27 points and 14 rebounds to lead Rice (7-3, 2-0) to a 78-57 win over Louisiana Tech (6-5, 1-1) in a Western Athletic Conference game at Houston.
