Rick Sands Is Named DreamWorks President
Former Miramax Film Corp. executive Rick Sands has been named president and chief operating officer of DreamWorks SKG.
Sands, who worked at Miramax for nearly two decades, will oversee the film company’s day-to-day operations, reporting to co-founder David Geffen. He replaces Helene Hahn.
DreamWorks Pictures co-heads Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are expected to focus on producing. The studio plans to release seven films, including “The Ring 2,” a sequel to the successful horror film. Last year DreamWorks spun off its animation unit, best known for the “Shrek” franchise.
