Hornets Put an End to 10-Game Losing Skid

Baron Davis had his first triple-double in more than two seasons, helping the New Orleans Hornets end their 10-game losing streak with a 121-117 overtime victory over the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night.

Davis scored 26 points, tied a career high with 17 assists and grabbed his 10th rebound late in overtime to ice the Hornets’ third win of the season.

Davis’ final rebound came after a missed free-throw by teammate P.J. Brown with 17 seconds left and with the Hornets leading 119-115. Davis then drew a foul -- waving his arms to the delight of a crowd that had stood since late in the fourth quarter -- and made a pair of free throws with 13 seconds left.

Rookie J.R. Smith tied a career high with 23 points for New Orleans, making four three-point baskets.

Seven of the Hornets’ last 12 field goals were three-pointers and they finished 13 for 26 from beyond the arc.

Peja Stojakovic scored 37 points on 13-for-23 shooting for the Kings, with 22 points coming after halftime.

Dallas 121, Indiana 101 -- The Mavericks made a franchise-best 74.3% of their shots in the first half, then cruised over the Pacers at Dallas.

Dirk Nowitzki led the way with 34 points and 13 rebounds and Michael Finley scored a season-high 33.

Dallas has won five games in a row, its longest streak of the season, and is 7-1 since Jason Terry became the starting point guard.

Cleveland 104, New York 79 -- LeBron James made his first eight shots and scored 22 points to power the Cavaliers over the Knicks at Cleveland for their third straight victory.

James, in his fifth game wearing a clear mask to protect a broken left cheekbone, played only 32 minutes and shot 10 for 14 from the field -- including two resounding slams in the second quarter.

San Antonio 99, Denver 90 -- Bruce Bowen held Carmelo Anthony in check and made three three-pointers in the fourth quarter at San Antonio to help the Spurs hand the Nuggets their ninth loss in 10 games.

Anthony, who entered the game averaging a team-leading 21.7 points, was limited to eight points on four-for-15 shooting.

Washington 117, Minnesota 114 -- Gilbert Arenas scored seven of his season-high 40 points in the last 2:19 at Washington to lead the Wizards to their fourth consecutive victory.

Larry Hughes had 28 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists for the Wizards, who at 19-13 are off to their best start in 20 seasons.

The Timberwolves lost their seventh consecutive road game.

Orlando 104, New Jersey 101 -- Grant Hill scored 22 points, and the Magic won its third consecutive game by holding off the Nets’ frantic comeback at Orlando, Fla.

The Nets, trailing by 19 early in the fourth quarter, cut the deficit to two with 10 seconds left on Jason Kidd’s fourth three-pointer of the period. Kidd had 22 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists for his first triple-double of the season.

Chicago 102, Boston 91 -- Kirk Hinrich scored 22 points and tied a career high with 14 assists at Chicago to lead the Bulls to their ninth win in 12 games.

Milwaukee 89, Utah 86 -- Michael Redd scored 26 points, including two clinching free throws with 4.8 seconds left at Milwaukee as the Bucks sent the Jazz to its ninth consecutive loss.
