Pushing kids for the wrong reasons
Re “Too Far, Too Fast for Young Athletes” [Jan. 3]: Far too many parents push their kids to excel and thus overdo it in sports, to the point of injury. One factor is the high cost of college. Another is the fantasy that little Susie is so talented that she can get an athletic scholarship, and yet another is our culture’s misguided worship of sports stars.
