Florida State Upsets No. 9 North Carolina

Ganiyat Adeduntan scored a career-high 26 points and Roneeka Hodges had 23, including a three-point play that tied the score late in regulation, to lead Florida State past No. 9 North Carolina, 79-73, in overtime Thursday night in Tallahassee, Fla.

Florida State, which improved to 17-2 overall and 4-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, is off to the best start in school history. The Tar Heels (14-3, 2-2) went scoreless for nearly seven minutes in regulation and overtime.

No. 2 Louisiana State 91, Arkansas 45 -- Seimone Augustus had 16 points and eight rebounds in 19 minutes at home for the Tigers (17-1, 4-0) in a Southeastern Conference victory over the Razorbacks (11-6, 1-5).

No. 3 Ohio State 52, Indiana 30 -- Jessica Davenport had 12 points and 10 rebounds in a Big Ten game for the Buckeyes (18-2, 5-1) as they held the host Hoosiers (8-8, 1-5) to a school-record low eight points in the first half.

No. 6 Rutgers 74, Providence 40 -- Cappie Pondexter scored 19 points at home for the Scarlet Knights, giving Coach C. Vivian Stringer 708 wins and tying her for third on the women’s coaches career victories list. Rutgers (13-3, 4-0) sent Providence (1-15, 0-5) to its 27th straight Big East Conference loss.

No. 7 Tennessee 81, Auburn 71 -- Shyra Ely scored 20 points, Tye’sha Fluker had 18 points, and the Lady Vols (13-3, 3-0) made 10 of 11 free throws down the stretch against the host Tigers (9-8, 0-4) in an SEC game at Auburn, Ala.

No. 12 Minnesota 73, Michigan 49 -- Janel McCarville had 25 points, nine rebounds, six steals, five assists and three blocks to lead the Gophers (15-3, 5-1) over the Wolverines (4-13, 0-6) in a Big Ten game at Minneapolis.

No. 14 Boston College 76, West Virginia 75 -- Clare Droesch made one of two free throws with 0.2 seconds left at home to lead the Eagles (13-2, 5-0) over the Mountaineers (11-5, 2-3) in a Big East game.

No. 16 Maryland 63, Virginia 60 -- Crystal Langhorne had 16 points and 17 rebounds for the Terrapins (13-3, 3-2) in an ACC win over the Cavaliers (13-5, 3-2) at College Park, Md.

Mississippi 66, No. 17 Vanderbilt 60 -- Armintie Price scored 18 points in an SEC game at Oxford, Miss., to lead the Rebels (12-5, 2-2) to an upset over the Commodores (13-4, 2-2).

No. 23 Virginia Tech 81, Clemson 66 -- Kirby Copeland scored 15 points to lead the Hokies (12-4, 2-2) over the Tigers (7-9, 1-3) in an ACC game at Clemson, S.C.

Penn State 77, No. 24 Purdue 54 -- Jess Strom scored 23 points to lead the Nittany Lions (11-6, 6-0) over the Boilermakers (10-7, 3-3) in a Big Ten game at State College, Pa.
