Ask For The Moon Takes Aim

A Group 1 winner in France, Ask For The Moon is scheduled to make her U.S. debut in today’s $75,000 Tuzla Handicap at Santa Anita.

Owned by a partnership and trained by Laura de Seroux, Ask For The Moon, a 4-year-old daughter of Dr Fong, arrives having won five of eight with two second-place finishes. She is the 3-1 second choice on Jeff Tufts’ morning line and will be ridden by Victor Espinoza.

The 5-2 favorite in the Tuzla, which is scheduled for a mile on the turf, is Katdogawn. A 5-year-old, English-bred mare owned by Jim Ford, Inc., Katdogawn is in the barn of Wally Dollase after making all of her previous starts in the U.S. for Jim Cassidy.

Race of the day: Skip All Day, who broke her maiden at first asking on the Woodbine turf on Oct. 29, will debut for trainer Bobby Frankel in today’s ninth at Gulfstream Park.

John Velazquez will ride the 4-year-old Skip Away maiden for owner Frank Stronach in the $33,000 allowance at 1 1/8 miles.

One for the road: Lino’s Lady steps up two more levels after her third consecutive win on Jan. 2 and can keep the streak going in today’s fourth at Golden Gate Fields. Frank Alvarado will ride the 5-year-old Trempolino mare, who hasn’t lost since being claimed for $4,000 by trainer Gennaro Vallejo for owners Jim Quinn and Bob Gilley on Oct. 29, in the $25,000 claimer at one mile on the turf.
