Kenny Rogers lost in his first game since attacking two television cameramen.

Willie Bloomquist singled leading off the eighth inning and scored on an infield grounder, leading the Seattle Mariners over Rogers and the Texas Rangers, 2-1, Sunday at Seattle.

The win ended the Mariners’ seven-game losing streak.

Jamie Moyer (7-3) won a matchup of starters in their 40s as Rogers (9-4) yielded two runs and six hits in 7 2/3 innings.

Moyer gave up one run and four hits in eight innings. He yielded the run when Gary Matthews Jr. homered on his first pitch of the game.

Rogers, who retired the first 11 batters, threw a fit before Wednesday’s home game against the Angels that sent one of the cameramen to a hospital. He was suspended for 20 games and fined $50,000 by Commissioner Bud Selig.

The players’ association appealed the penalty, allowing Rogers to continue playing until after a hearing and a decision.

Toronto 5, Boston 2 -- Roy Halladay pitched eight strong innings at Boston for his 12th victory, leading the Blue Jays to their eighth win over the Red Sox in 11 meetings this season.

Halladay (12-4) escaped jams in the fifth and sixth to limit the highest-scoring team in the major leagues to one run and five hits. He lowered his league-leading earned-run average to 2.33.

New York 1, Detroit 0 -- The win at Detroit was the Yankees’ first in 28 tries this season when scoring three runs or fewer. They had not won a regular-season game when scoring three or fewer since a 3-2 victory over Toronto in the last game of the 2004 season. Starting in place of the injured Carl Pavano, rookie Chien-Ming Wang (5-3) yielded five hits and walked one in seven innings.

Oakland 7, Chicago 2 -- The Athletics sent Mark Buehrle to his first loss in nearly three months. Mark Kotsay’s run-scoring double capped a four-run sixth at Oakland for the A’s, who have won nine of 10. Buehrle (10-2), who hadn’t lost in 15 starts since April 10, gave up a season-high 14 hits.
