Huntington Beach Teen Dies, 2 Hurt in Crash
A 17-year-old Huntington Beach boy was killed and two companions injured in a crash in the Arizona desert near the California border, authorities said Monday.
William “Cody” Roy, a former track and field athlete at Edison High School, died at the scene Saturday on southbound U.S. 95 near Parker. Jeff Davis, 18, who was driving, and Derek Demun, 17, another passenger, both of Huntington Beach, were admitted to Phoenix hospitals, said Officer Chad Hale of the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The car carrying the three apparently crossed the center divider and collided with a oncoming car that held two occupants, Hale said. One of the two was treated for minor injuries and the other was admitted to a hospital.
