The Pixies stay aloft

The Pixies’ reunion caused one of the biggest buzzes in the rock world last year, especially when it quickly mushroomed from the expected cult convention into one of the hottest tickets of the summer. But the short-lived Boston quartet, whose spiky, disquieting rock exerted a huge influence on the music of the ‘90s and beyond, isn’t milking the opportunity. They still haven’t recorded a new album, and they’re back on the road for just a three-week tour.
