Eight Injured in Big-Rig Accident
A tractor-trailer crashed through the divider of the 118 Freeway on Saturday, hitting oncoming traffic and injuring eight people, one critically, authorities said.
The truck was eastbound near the Balboa Boulevard exit when the accident occurred about 6 p.m., said Melissa Kelley, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Fire Department. Authorities don’t know why the truck veered into the divider.
Five vehicles were hit, including one driven by a 50-year-old man who was in critical condition with chest pains.
Seven other people sustained injuries, none of which were life-threatening, Kelley said.
