Huddleston Wins Twice

Series leader Tim Huddleston continued his dominance over the Auto Club Late Models Series by winning both Twin 50s races Saturday night at Irwindale Speedway.

In the first race, Huddleston passed Mike Johnson on the 36th lap to take the lead for good and finished 1.782 seconds ahead of him in the 50-lap race on the half-mile track. Huddleston, who started fourth in the 23-car field, was in third for the first 34 laps.

In the second race, Huddleston started third, took the lead on the first lap and held it for the rest of the race.

Johnson, who started on the pole, finished second, 1.849 seconds behind.

Larry Sampson was taken to County USC Medical Center after his car hit the wall during a Vista Paint super stocks race. He was conscious when he left the track grounds, according to Lester Boyer, the track’s director of competition.
