Freshman forward Marvin Williams had it all in his hands -- the game, the outright Atlantic Coast Conference title and a probable No. 1 seeding in the NCAA tournament.

He converted a three-point play with 17 seconds left to cap North Carolina’s game-closing 11-0 run and give the second-ranked Tar Heels a 75-73 victory over No. 6 Duke on Sunday at Chapel Hill, N.C.

North Carolina (26-3, 14-2) won its first ACC regular-season championship since 1993, the same year of its most recent national title.

Sean May of North Carolina had 26 points and 24 rebounds to record his eighth consecutive double-double. Shelden Williams had 25 points and six blocks for Duke (22-5, 11-5), which played without guard Sean Dockery for the third game in a row.

After J.J. Redick missed a long three-point shot that would have won it for the Blue Devils, teammate Daniel Ewing had a final chance from just inside the arc. But his shot was short.

Florida 53, No. 3 Kentucky 52 -- Anthony Roberson made two free throws with 12 seconds left at Gainesville, Fla., giving the Gators (20-7, 12-4 Southeastern Conference) their first victory over the Wildcats since 2001.

Roberson stole the ball from Patrick Sparks, who fouled Roberson as he headed the other way. Roberson then made the two free throws.

Kentucky (23-4, 14-2) still had a chance to win, but Kelenna Azubuike’s three-point shot just before the buzzer bounced off the left side of the rim.

No. 4 Wake Forest 55, North Carolina State 53 -- Chris Paul made a running shot at the buzzer to lift the Demon Deacons (26-4, 13-3 in ACC) over the Wolfpack (17-12, 7-9) at Raleigh, N.C. Justin Gray made a game-tying three-point basket to set up Paul’s game-winning shot.

Missouri 72, No. 7 Kansas 68 -- The Jayhawks (22-5, 12-4) not only lost the Big 12 title, they may have lost one of their best players. The loss to the Tigers (15-15, 7-9) at Columbia, Mo., dropped them into a tie for first place with Oklahoma.

Forward Keith Langford had five points in three minutes before reinjuring the left ankle he hurt at the start of practice last week. Langford, who was on crutches after the game, is the Jayhawks’ second-leading scorer at 15.1 points. He was injured when he stepped on Tiger Brian Dailey’s foot.
