Jockeys’ Guild Says Lawsuit Is an ‘Attack’
From Associated Press
LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
The Jockeys’ Guild said a lawsuit filed last week by Churchill Downs Inc. seeking to block future boycotts in protest of health insurance is an “attack on all jockeys.”
The lawsuit claims that the Guild violated antitrust laws by ordering its jockeys to walk off the job at Churchill Downs on Nov. 7, 2004, and at Hoosier Park in Anderson, Ind., on Nov. 12, 2004.
The jockeys have sought an increase to the $100,000 in coverage that tracks provide for them.
