Re “Deadly Swerves and Spins,” March 7: Cars and vans in Oakland barreling through the streets, weaving “in and out of their lanes, dodging oncoming traffic at the last second”? Isn’t this what many TV vehicle commercials promote on every channel throughout each day? The minuscule, quick disclaimer; “Professional driver on closed course” is a joke, but the encouragement isn’t. It’s time to demand that the manufacturers and their ad agencies stop sacrificing our safety for a quick sale.
