Judy Graeme’s fascinating essay, “Hello Again, Mr. Shulman” [March 3], gave me chills.

Usually the details of our homes -- and thus our lives -- are caught accidentally in photos taken to mark occasions: Mom’s macrame owl in the background of a Thanksgiving picture, a favorite pair of pajamas recorded on Christmas morning. Of course, it’s these incidental details that tell us more about our lives than the poses and smiles.

How fortunate for Graeme to be able to view such a unique record of her past. Her essay beautifully captures this otherworldly experience.
