A new pub for the Valley set

Pub enthusiasts are migrating to Woodland Hills to check out the White Harte Public House, the latest sports bar and eatery from Gary Richards, who also owns Studio City’s famed British pub the Fox and Hounds. The White Harte joins such new Valley venues as Lucky Tiki (Mission Hills), Match (NoHo) and Helios (Woodland Hills).... Promoter Brent Bolthouse, who’s also an owner at Avalon/Spider Club, tells me his crew is moving to the cozier Spider Club on Fridays with DJ Samantha Ronson. Promoters Tommy Alastra and Mike McGuiness, who do an ‘80s night in Spider on Mondays, will try to fill up the big room.

Western Beat lassos the crowd

So the Western Beat promotion on the first Thursday of each month at Highland Grounds is still going strong -- last week’s Kris Kristofferson Tribute, hosted by Bliss, rocked the coffeehouse and eatery. The venue’s Tuesday cabaret night assembled by Deirdre Moncy is also winning fans.... Fun rock ‘n’ roll cover band the Rhythm Junkies has taken up a Thursday night residency at the Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach. The band, which plays everything from the Rolling Stones to Led Zeppelin (with doses of Marvin Gaye and James Brown for good measure), features a lineup of musicians who at one time played with such acts as Quiet Riot, Great White, Goo-Goo Dolls and Edgar Winter.... Go kick it with John Doe on Friday night at the King King in Hollywood as the X-man and pals celebrate the one-year anniversary of Watusi Rodeo, a roots-rock program on Indie 103.1 FM.... It’s two months away, but campground space figures to go quickly for the third annual Joshua Tree Music Festival. Victoria Williams heads a kaleidoscopic bill of performers (including plenty of dance and world music flavors) for the May 13-15 event at Joshua Tree Lake Campground. Lineup at www.joshuatreemusicfestival.com.
