Narrow-Minded Board
Re “Colleges End Study-in-Spain Program,” March 6: The decision by the trustees of Irvine Valley College and Saddleback College to end its study abroad program in Spain because Spain pulled its troops from Iraq is appalling and unacademic. Before college trustee Tom Fuentes and the other narrow-minded trustees judge Spain, maybe they should first look to the U.S.’ own inability to meet its military recruiting goals and realize that most Americans themselves don’t want to fight in this war either.
