Alleged Rapist a Theft Suspect
A man being held in the rape and robbery of an 81-year-old woman in her Dana Point home last week is a suspect in several burglaries in the area, authorities said Monday.
Daniel Guerra, 20, was arrested Sunday and is being held at Orange County Jail on $1-million bail, said sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino. The district attorney’s office will determine what charges will be filed.
The woman had returned to her home from a walk about 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, Amormino said. He said the attacker pulled a knife and sexually assaulted her before leaving with cash. He said mostly small items were taken in the other thefts.
Guerra emigrated from Mexico five months ago, Amormino said, and has been living in his mother’s Dana Point home.
