LAPD Officer Shoots and Wounds Man, 21

A Los Angeles police officer shot and wounded a 21-year-old man who pointed a gun at him Wednesday during an anti-gang patrol, investigators said.
Police Lt. Paul Vernon said the man pulled a handgun as the officer and his partner tried to detain him on Estrella Avenue. The man is in stable condition.
Police will conduct an internal investigation of the shooting.
