A state appeals court in Tampa refused to block the removal of Terri Schiavo’s feeding tube, shifting the stage in the legal battle over the brain-damaged woman to the state Legislature and an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Barring new roadblocks, Michael Schiavo could have his wife’s feeding tube removed at 1 p.m. Friday. Judge George Greer gave him permission to remove the tube, against the wishes of her parents, Bob and Mary Schindler. They planned to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, said attorney David Gibbs.
