Warriors Leave Kings Reeling
Jason Richardson made a long jumper with 27.1 seconds left and finished with 40 points, and the Golden State Warriors sent the Sacramento Kings a notch lower in the standings by handing them their fourth straight road loss with a 100-97 victory Thursday night.
After Richardson’s basket, the Kings missed four shots, including three-point attempts by Mike Bibby and Peja Stojakovic just before the final buzzer in falling from fifth to sixth in the Western Conference standings.
After trailing by as many as 21 points in the first half, the Kings rallied behind Kenny Thomas, who scored 12 of his 16 points in the final 10:39. Sacramento’s last lead was at 93-92.
Cuttino Mobley had 28 points and nine rebounds for the Kings.
Dallas 98, Portland 94 -- Josh Howard had 21 points and 11 rebounds at Dallas to help overcome an off night by Dirk Nowitzki.
Howard scored 10 of Dallas’ last 20 points, including a three-pointer to break a 90-90 tie with 1:59 left.
Nowitzki, averaging 26.7 points, finished with 15 on four-of-17 shooting. Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Damon Stoudamire had 20 points apiece for Portland.
