Dean of Engineering Named Provost at USC

C.L. Max Nikias, dean of USC’s engineering school, has been named the university’s provost and senior vice president for academic affairs.
Starting June 1, Nikias will be second only to USC President Steven B. Sample in the university’s administration.
He has been a professor of electrical engineering at USC since 1991 and has served as dean of the highly ranked Viterbi School of Engineering since 2001.
Nikias, 52, replaces Lloyd Armstrong Jr., 64, who plans to return to the USC faculty.
