At the rate he’s hitting balls into the seats, there’s no doubt Ryan Klesko is back.

Klesko hit two more home runs on Wednesday, helping the San Diego Padres beat baseball’s worst team, the Colorado Rockies, 8-7, in 12 innings at San Diego. His second homer tied the score in the ninth, and Miguel Ojeda singled in the winning run with two out in the 12th.

“I’m just sitting back and driving the ball,” said Klesko, whose homers traveled 392 and 389 feet. “It’s nice to have my bat speed back.”

Klesko has six homers this season after hitting only nine last year.

The Padres had four homers Wednesday, and the Rockies three.

Klesko hit a leadoff homer to right in the ninth on an 0-and-1 pitch from Chin-Hui Tsao to tie the score at 7-7.

Mark Loretta started the winning rally in the 12th when he was hit by the first pitch from Marcos Carvajal (0-1), who hadn’t given up a run in 9 2/3 innings coming in. Brian Giles, in an 0-for-22 slump, walked before Phil Nevin and Klesko struck out. The runners advanced on Carvajal’s wild pitch before Ojeda lofted a single to the warning track in center.

Dennys Reyes (1-0) pitched a perfect 12th for the win.

Arizona 6, San Francisco 2 -- Chris Snyder had a run-scoring double that capped a four-run fourth inning and made a key pickoff throw from behind the plate to throw out Ray Durham at first to lead the Diamondbacks at Phoenix.

Atlanta 5, Florida 2 -- Tim Hudson took a shutout into the eighth inning, Chipper Jones homered in his return to the lineup and the Braves defeated the Marlins at Atlanta.

New York 3, Philadelphia 2 -- Jae Seo pitched one-hit ball for seven shutout innings, and streaking slugger Cliff Floyd homered and made an outstanding catch that saved two runs to lead the Mets at New York.

St. Louis 7, Cincinnati 3 -- Scott Rolen returned from a sore back and hit a two-run homer, and Mark Mulder gave up only three hits in seven shutout innings to lead the Cardinals to a three-game sweep at Cincinnati.

Pittsburgh 6, Houston 4 -- Daryle Ward hit a tiebreaking homer in the ninth, Jason Bay followed with a two-run shot and the Astro bullpen blew another possible win for Roger Clemens in a loss to the Pirates at Houston.
