Baseball Hall of Famer Joe Morgan has two daughters from his first marriage: Angela, a Bay Area attorney, and Lisa, a makeup artist for NBC in Burbank.

Morgan and his second wife, Theresa, have 14-year-old twin daughters. Ashley, a member of the Bay Aerials gymnastics club, is taking part in a national competition in St. Louis this weekend. Kelly is a member of a state champion soccer team, the Mustang Mavericks.

It appears they inherited Morgan’s athletic ability.

“I like to tell people they got their looks from me and their athletic ability from my wife,” Morgan said.

Trivia time: Who was the last Milwaukee Brewer to win the National League most-valuable-player award?

School is in: The trendiest spot for NFL players to work out in the off-season is the University of Miami weight room, according to the Washington Post.

” ... One day there were 11 first-round draft choices working out,” Miami Coach Larry Coker told the newspaper. “I was trying to put a dollar figure on what the guys were worth, and they were worth more than the weight room, believe me.”

Dandy duo: Randy Hill of Foxsports.com, on the possibility of Flip Saunders becoming coach of the Lakers: “If they hire Saunders and retain veteran center Vlade Divac, the Lakers will be the NBA’s only team with both Flip and flop.”

But there’s no Muscle Beach: Also from Hill: “The nickname of Marquette University’s athletic teams has been shortened from Golden Eagles to Gold. This change could inspire a lawsuit if the school decides to refer to its basketball venue as Gold’s Gym.”

Government at work: From Channel 9’s Alan Massengale: “The state is billions and billions of dollars in debt. But what is our California Assembly doing up there? Well, they’re considering a bill to make sure you know when you buy an Angel ticket, you’ll be watching the game in Anaheim, not Los Angeles. Does this require any further ridicule?”

Headache remedy: Serena Williams said on ESPN2’s “Cold Pizza” that she was starting an awareness crusade to combat migraines, prompting Dwight Perry to write in the Seattle Times: “We’ll know she’s serious about reducing headaches when she stops designing her own tennis outfits.”

Looking back: On this day in 1968, Jim “Catfish” Hunter of the Oakland A’s pitched a perfect game, beating Minnesota, 4-0.

Trivia answer: No one. When Robin Yount won MVP awards in 1982 and ‘89, the Brewers were in the American League.

And finally: Howard Cole of BaseballSavvy.com spotted an ad from a baseball fan willing to trade his “Final Concert” Cher tickets for good Dodger tickets. According to Cole, the advertiser went on to say, “I am not ashamed to admit I like baseball more than Cher.”

Added Cole: “No word on whether or not he’s ashamed to admit he actually bought Cher tickets in the first place.”
