“Applause” cancellation -- A Quick Takes item in Wednesday’s Calendar section about a canceled performance of “Applause” at the Freud Playhouse on Sunday said the audience was seated when the cancellation announcement was made. In fact, audience members were informed as they waited outside the theater.

Members of the “Applause” company identified the target of the threat as Jean Louisa Kelly, who plays a scheming young actress in “Applause,” which is based on the movie “All About Eve.” She is one of the stars of the TV series “Yes, Dear.”

Police and officials of the Reprise! company, which produces “Applause,” spent at least an hour discussing whether the performance should be canceled, a Reprise spokesman said. The audience was seated when producer Marcia Seligson emerged to say that the performance was canceled because of “security issues.” Theatergoers were offered tickets to a later performance or refunds.

The show was expected to continue performances Tuesday night. Seligson said she was confident the “security issues,” which she declined to identify, had been resolved.
