Khalil Greene made sure San Diego didn’t have to rally for its seventh consecutive victory.

Greene hit two three-run homers for a career-high six runs batted in, and Adam Eaton (6-1) won his fourth consecutive start Wednesday to lead the surging Padres to an 8-4 victory over Atlanta at San Diego.

The Padres won for the 16th time in 19 games, a span that has vaulted them from fourth in the National League West to the division lead.

San Diego has swept consecutive three-game series against Atlanta and Florida -- the top teams in the NL East -- and has won six series in a row. It was San Diego’s first three-game sweep of the Braves since May 1991.

The Padres had to rally for their previous three victories.

They scored 10 runs in the seventh inning Sunday to defeat Florida, 12-4, then rallied in the eighth Monday night and in the ninth Tuesday night, both against the Braves.

“This type of run we’re on, I don’t know if anybody could see it going this well,” said Manager Bruce Bochy, who ripped his players after a 10-3 loss at San Francisco on April 27 that dropped the Padres to 9-13. “I knew we’d come out of it. But to be this consistent for this period of time against the type of clubs we’re playing, it’s been remarkable. I can’t say enough about those guys.”

Arizona 7, Houston 6 -- Troy Glaus hit a two-run homer and the Diamondbacks roughed up Andy Pettitte at Houston.

Glaus had three of Arizona’s season-high 14 hits.

St. Louis 8, Philadelphia 4 -- Yadier Molina hit a three-run homer and Albert Pujols added a two-run shot at Philadelphia, helping the Cardinals overcome another homer by Bobby Abreu.

Abreu hit a three-run drive in the sixth inning, giving him homers in nine of the last 10 games.

New York 10, Cincinnati 6 -- Chris Woodward, Mike Cameron and David Wright homered and the Mets completed a three-game sweep at New York.
