Share

The seven horses entered in today’s eighth race at Belmont Park know all about winning.

Maybry’s Boy, Show Boot, Secret Run, Jet Prospector, Nebraska Moon, Summer Service and Sure You Can have combined to win 50 races from 166 starts entering this afternoon’s $49,000 optional claimer at six furlongs.

Owned by Team Equest Racing and trained by Richard Dutrow Jr., Jet Prospector, a 4-year-old A.P. Jet gelding, is the sharpest member of the cast. He has won three of his last four and five of eight since joining the Dutrow barn last summer. A winner once in two starts at Belmont, Jet Prospector will be ridden by Edgar Prado and will be coupled in the betting with Nebraska Moon, who has won six of 11.

Summer Service, a 5-year-old California-bred gelding, will be making his first start since May 8, 2004 at Hollywood Park. Owned by Weatherwatch Farm and Roddy Valente and trained by Bruce Levine, the gray son of Siberian Summer has won seven of 18. Richard Migliore will be aboard.

Victor Espinoza will ride the 3-year-old daughter of Menifee against six opponents in the $51,000 allowance at 1 1/16 miles on grass.

One for the road: Pretty Jane has been facing better of late for trainer Eduardo Caramori and cuts back to a distance (a mile) at which she is unbeaten on the grass in today’s eighth at Churchill Downs. Brice Blanc will ride the 4-year-old daughter of Subordination in the $60,800 optional claimer.

Exotically speaking: An early pick four using Wise One in the first, Award Winning Team, Big Mountain and Irish Honor in the second, Jamaican Music, Wager Of Gold and My Girl Aleyna in the third and Power Boy, Asong For Billy and Danthebluegrassman in the fourth.
