Montreal Piles On in Third

Steve Begin scored a short-handed goal 1 minute 14 seconds after Jaromir Jagr tied the score for New York in the third period, and the Montreal Canadiens got four third-period goals to beat the New York Rangers, 4-1, on Monday night in New York and earn a split in the home-and-home series.

Saku Koivu gave Montreal a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal 47 seconds into the third period. Jagr answered nearly nine minutes later while the Rangers were on a 5-on-3 power play.

Toronto 2, Florida 1 -- Alexei Ponikarovsky scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third period at home for the Maple Leafs, whose fans booed after Florida’s Gary Roberts needed only 26 seconds to score against his former team. Darcy Tucker tied it on the power play at 5:04 of the first.
