Senators Score Big in Victory

Martin Havlat and Daniel Alfredsson each scored four goals, and Dany Heatley had two to send the Ottawa Senators to a 10-4 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night at Buffalo, N.Y.

Alfredsson tied team records and set career highs for goals and points (six). It also was the first career four-goal game for Havlat, and the third time in three games a Senator player had scored four goals. Heatley had four goals in an 8-0 win over Toronto on Saturday.

It was the first time in franchise history that Ottawa had two four-goal scorers in one game.

Chicago 6, St. Louis 5 -- Brent Seabrook scored his first NHL goal 35 seconds into overtime to give the Blackhawks the win at St. Louis.

Martin Lapointe had a goal and two assists, and rookie Pavol Vorobiev had a goal and an assist for Chicago, which ended a four-game losing streak.

Vancouver 2, Minnesota 1 -- Alex Auld made 16 of his 31 saves in the third period as the Canucks held off the Wild at Vancouver, Canada. Vancouver improved to 6-0-0 at home.

San Jose 3, Nashville 2 -- Alyn McCauley scored a short-handed goal 1:44 into overtime, and the Sharks beat the Predators at San Jose for their fourth straight victory.

Brian Leetch will be out for the next month after the Boston Bruin defenseman was diagnosed with a strained right knee ligament suffered in Tuesday’s 4-3 overtime loss to the New York Islanders.
