New York Coach Larry Brown is still trying to find the right combination that will bring the Knicks their first victory.

Brown tinkered with the New York lineup, playing rookies David Lee, Channing Frye and Nate Robinson together, and it seemed to spark the Knicks. However, Golden State proved to be too much for New York (0-3), as Jason Richardson had 24 points to lead the visiting Warriors to an 83-81 victory on Sunday.

“I won’t play the rookies all the time, but they earned it,” Brown said. “It’s going to take some time. We’re trying to figure out who can play and who can help us.”

Golden State guard Baron Davis returned to the starting lineup after sitting out Friday’s loss to Utah because of a strained hamstring. He had 16 points and nine assists.

Stephon Marbury led New York with 15 points and six assists.

Sacramento 118, Phoenix 117 -- Shareef Abdur-Rahim scored the Kings’ final six points and secured the victory with a block of a layup in the final seconds at Phoenix.

Phoenix had one final desperate attempt, but Brian Grant missed a 16-footer after taking an inbounds pass with 0.6 seconds left.

Peja Stojakovic had 23 of his 33 points in the third quarter to lead the Kings to their first victory.

Leandro Barbosa led the Suns with 23 points.
