A 30-year-old man was killed by gunfire in a West Homestead, Pa., movie theater Wednesday night during a premiere showing of the 50 Cent movie “Get Rich or Die Tryin’,” police said.
The victim, Shelton Flowers, 30, of Wilkinsburg, Pa., was hit in the thigh and chest. He died at a local hospital.
Employees at the Loews Waterfront theater reported hearing the shots. Two men were seen running out of the main entrance after the shooting, witnesses told police. Another man left through the rear doors.
Flowers fled past the concession stand and collapsed near the door.
A representative of Loews Cineplex confirmed there was a shooting and that “Get Rich” was playing at the time of the shooting. It is no longer playing at the theater.
The West Homestead police chief told a local TV station that the department put an officer on duty at the theater, unusual for a weeknight, because the movie was showing.
