Will It Be ‘Doll’s House?

Share

Pussycat Doll should be happy to be back in California after a less than productive stay in Indiana.

As the 17-10 second choice in the Indiana Breeders’ Cup Oaks at Hoosier Park on Sept. 30, the 3-year-old Real Quiet filly failed to fire, finishing fifth in a field of six.

A winner in two of six starts, Pussycat Doll will try to rebound today for owner-breeder Mike Pegram and trainer Bob Baffert in the $70,000 Audrey Skirball-Kenis at Hollywood Park.

An ungraded 1 1/16 -mile race, the Kenis is normally run on the grass but was moved to the main track because of the absence of a turf course in Inglewood.

Before shipping to Hoosier, Pussycat Doll had won the Torrey Pines Stakes at Del Mar by four lengths on Sept. 2 and a repeat of that effort would be more than good enough today. She will be ridden for the first time by Garrett Gomez.

The other five scheduled starters are Silver Stage, A Classic Life, Skipping Court, Homecoming and Shimmer, who has won two in a row.

Race of the day: Greater Good, who has won half of his 10 starts on the main track, will make his grass debut for owner Lewis Lakin and trainer Bob Holthus in the $150,000 Commonwealth Turf today at Churchill Downs. John McKee will ride the 3-year-old Intidab ridgling in the 1 1/16 -mile race against eight others. Greater Good has two graded stakes victories on his resume. He won the Kentucky Cup Juvenile at Turfway Park as a 2-year-old, and earlier this year he took the Rebel at Oaklawn Park.

One for the road: Remarkable News got his first win in wire-to-wire style on Sept. 22 at Belmont Park and looks like the controlling speed again today in his first against winners in the sixth at Aqueduct. Javier Castellano will ride the 3-year-old son of Chayim for trainer Angel Penna Jr. in the $46,000 allowance at 1 1/16 miles on the grass.

Exotically speaking: An early pick four using Go Coyote Joe and Fly Forrest Fly in the first, Iflookscouldkill, Silver Spectre and Yummy Yummy in the second, Igor in the third and Rushin’ To Altar, Hasty Kris and Follow The Rainbow in the fourth.
