Lockheed Gets Contract for More Fighter Jets

Lockheed Martin Corp. said it received a $2.9-billion contract from the U.S. Air Force to continue making F/A-22 fighter aircraft through November 2007.

Lockheed said the contract would increase its total contracted aircraft to 107. The F/A-22 is built at Lockheed factories in Palmdale, Calif.; Meridian, Miss.; Marietta, Ga.; and Fort Worth, Texas; as well as at Boeing Co.’s plant in Seattle.

* Raytheon Co. won a $1.3-billion Army contract to develop and test a radar system designed to protect troops from cruise missile attacks.

* Boeing Co. and the union for its engineering and technical employees reached a tentative agreement on a three-year labor contract for workers in the Puget Sound region of Washington state. The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace represents nearly 18,000 engineers and technical workers in the region.
