From Times Wire Reports

A pair of ponies pulling a carriage in a parade Saturday crashed into a street sign pole and bolted, dragging a woman down the street, police said.

As the carriage made its way across a small bridge, the two Shetland ponies crashed into a street sign pole. They began running out of control, dumping Nancy Turner, 59, from the carriage and dragging her behind as her 7-year-old daughter held on inside. Police Officer Bert Walker jumped onto the carriage and grabbed the child just before it hit a parked car.

The ponies broke free, but authorities found them near City Hall. Turner had minor injuries, and the girl was unhurt.
