Police Officer Dies After He Is Shot in the Heart

A police officer was shot in the heart during a car chase in Brooklyn.
Dillon Stewart, 35, of Elmont, on Long Island, was killed despite wearing a bulletproof vest. One round fired from the other vehicle entered the officer’s left armpit, slightly missing the protective plating, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said at a news conference.
