Frankel also will be trying to win another significant race with a female turf performer in New York. Earlier in the day, Melhor Ainda will take on eight in the $75,000 Flower Bowl Invitational at Belmont Park.

The Flower Bowl, also run at 1 1/4 miles, is among five Grade I races on the card at Belmont.

Race of the day: Lost In The Fog will seek to remain unbeaten and win for the 10th time as he takes on six in the $100,000 Bay Meadows Speed Handicap. Russell Baze will ride the 3-year-old Lost Soldier colt for owner Harry Aleo and trainer Greg Gilchrist in the six-furlong contest. This will be the first start at Bay Meadows for Lost In The Fog, who has victories at seven tracks -- Golden Gate Fields, Turf Paradise, Gulfstream Park, Aqueduct, Belmont, Calder and Saratoga.

The Bay Meadows Speed Handicap will be Lost In The Fog’s final start before the Breeders’ Cup Sprint.

One for the road: Cosmonaut is a better colt on the turf and can rebound in the fourth at Belmont. Edgar Prado will ride the gray son of Lemon Drop Kid for Flying Zee Stables and trainer Carlos Martin in the $46,000 allowance at one mile.
