Kolzig Paces Capitals, 3-2
Olaf Kolzig made 34 stops in regulation, four more in overtime, and two during the shootout as the Washington Capitals topped the Tampa Bay Lightning, 3-2, Sunday night at Washington.
“That’s what they pay the goalie for,” Kolzig said.
Kolzig was the difference in getting Washington into its first shootout. He then turned aside shots by Martin St. Louis and Brad Richards to secure the victory.
Vancouver 5, Dallas 2 -- Lee Goren scored the tiebreaking goal in the third period at Vancouver, Canada. Todd Bertuzzi added a power-play goal with 5:29 left to play, and Richard Park made it 5-2 with a long shot that got past Marty Turco with 2:20 remaining.
