Israel Says Troops Killed 2 Palestinians
Israeli soldiers shot and killed two Palestinians in the West Bank, authorities said.
Palestinian witnesses said troops killed an 18-year-old when they opened fire on unarmed protesters who threw stones at an army jeep east of Tulkarm. But an Israeli military spokesman said soldiers shot at gunmen who had fired at the troops first. Soldiers found one body near the scene but believed they had shot two armed men, the spokesman said.
Palestinian officials said Israel had informed them of the second fatality but had not yet identified the body.
