Huizar Has Fundraising Lead in Council Race
Jose Huizar has opened a significant fundraising lead in the 14th District City Council race, according to totals reported Thursday to the city Ethics Commission.
Huizar, a member of the Los Angeles Unified School District board, has raised $352,968, while his main opponent in the Nov. 8 election, former Councilman Nick Pacheco, has raised $156,907.
Supporters of Huizar have also spent $97,338 independently to help him.
In the 10th District race, Herb Wesson, a former speaker of the California Assembly, has raised $383,501.
