Dwayne De Rosario set up all of San Jose’s goals and the Earthquakes beat Chivas USA for the first time this season, 3-0, on Saturday.

Chivas, an expansion club, had tied the current Western Conference leaders, 3-3, on April 9 and, 1-1, on June 12.

But this time Chivas couldn’t rebound from second-half goals by Mark Chung, Ricardo Clark and Brian Ching.

Chivas (3-19-5), which along with fellow first-year club Real Salt Lake has not won a road game, played a competitive and scoreless first half.

Only 1 minute 12 seconds after halftime, De Rosario passed between the legs of defender Ezra Hendrickson to Chung, whose shot deflected off defender Douglas Sequeira and into the net.

Before scoring, Clark missed on a variety of long-range blasts, including a 28-yard shot that Sergio Garcia saved in the 26th minute.

In the 74th minute, Clark fired a shot off Sequeira just outside the Chivas box, collected the rebound and fired again to give the Earthquakes (14-4-8) a 2-0 advantage.

In the 87th minute, De Rosario found Ching in the middle of the Chivas box, and Ching completed the scoring with his fifth goal.

The U.S. national team forward, still recovering from a right hamstring strain, made only his second league appearance since June 25.

Tied for the MLS lead with nine assists before the game, De Rosario now has 12.

Goalkeeper Pat Onstad set a single-season record for the Earthquakes with his 10th shutout.
