Truck Crash Closes 22 Freeway for Hours
Two lanes of the Garden Grove Freeway were closed for nearly three hours during afternoon rush hour Tuesday after a dump truck veered out of control near the Main Street exit and punched a hole in the center divider.
Traffic was backed up seven miles as a result, the California Highway Patrol said.
Officer Marco DeGennaro, a CHP spokesman, said the accident occurred when the driver of the eastbound truck hit the center divider, demolishing the truck’s front end and spilling diesel fuel over the freeway.
No injuries were reported nor were any citations issued, the spokesman said.
