Khalil Greene hit a grand slam to cap a five-run, two-out rally in the ninth inning, and Ramon Hernandez had a three-run homer in the 12th inning to give the San Diego Padres an 8-5 victory over the Washington Nationals on Saturday night at San Diego.

Greene led off the 12th with a single. Pitcher Woody Williams pinch hit and struck out when his bunt attempt with two strikes went foul, and Dave Roberts followed with a bloop single to right, with Greene stopping at second. Hernandez then homered off Jon Rauch (1-4) for the Padres’ first walkoff homer of the season.

With the victory, San Diego maintained its 5 1/2 -game lead over San Francisco in the NL West.

Philadelphia 10, Florida 2 -- Once the Phillies broke up Dontrelle Willis’ shutout in the ninth inning, there was no stopping them.

Thanks in part to poor relief pitching and defense, the first 10 batters in the ninth inning reached base and the Phillies scored 10 times to beat the Marlins at Miami.
