The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced that this year’s hurricanes would be named Alberto, Beryl, Chris, Debby, Ernesto, Florence, Gordon, Helene, Isaac, Joyce, Kirk, Leslie, Michael, Nadine, Oscar, Patty, Rafael, Sandy, Tony, Valerie and William.
The World Meteorological Organization has retired the names of five hurricanes from last season. Katrina, Dennis, Rita, Stan and Wilma will no longer be in the rotation of hurricane names, NOAA said.
