Record vs. Fire (2005) -- 0-2.

Update -- As Major League Soccer’s defending champion, something more was expected of the Galaxy in its opener than a 1-0 home loss to the New England Revolution. “I didn’t like our lack of fitness in the second half,” Coach Steve Sampson said. The Galaxy managed only 12 shots, and only four of those were on target. On Thursday, the Galaxy signed Brazilian forward Thiago de Souza, but he will not be available until the April 15 match against Chivas USA, at the earliest. On Friday the Galaxy acquired forward Cornell Glen from Colorado for a third-round draft choice in 2007. Naldo da Conceicao was waived. Chicago opened with a 3-2 loss at FC Dallas.
