Doctor Finishes 37th in North Pole Marathon

A San Bernardino County doctor finished 37th out of 43 men trudging 26.2 miles across soft snow and ice knolls in Saturday’s fourth North Pole marathon.
Oncologist Vir Nanda, 52, of Apple Valley finished in 9 hours, 16 minutes. Irish novelist Michael Collins won the race in just under four and a half hours.
Eleven women also ran the frozen Arctic Ocean course. All 54 competitors completed the race, which was held in temperatures of about 10 below zero.
