Daybreak tradition back at the Bowl

Share

On its 85th anniversary, the Hollywood Bowl Easter Sunrise Service returns Sunday after a two-year break. A holiday tradition since 1921, the service was canceled in 2004 and 2005 because of construction. The multidenominational Christian service is a major production, featuring 700 participants.

Southern Californians’ celebrations of Easter are as varied as the population. Many will attend services at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown L.A. or at Forest Lawn. But the holiday has a secular side as well.

The Los Angeles County Arboretum will host the Great Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday with activities including nature crafts and eco games.

The event will also feature crafts, live bunnies to pet and photo opportunities. And Radio Disney sponsors an Easter Eggsplosion, a family concert and festival featuring Radio Disney celebrities, plus games, activities, an egg hunt and more Saturday at Johnny Carson Park in Burbank.
